I have been looking at hiking Hurst Bride for a few years now and with good fall weather and wanting to get out and enjoy it we decided to go for it. Greta, Oliver, Tyke and I got up early on Saturday morning and drove toward the Swell. We met grandpa and Piper at the Hanksville exit and proceeded to the trail head. We left our car near Hwy 24 and drove grandpas truck in. We hiked up Ernie's Canyon and then up on to the swell. We followed a bad direction and followed some cairns that went elsewhere. By the time we broke out the GPS and figured out we were in the wrong area it was getting too late and we were too tired to find the bridge. Even though we did not reach our intended destination it was still a beautiful hike. After a little research we found where we went wrong and decided to try again. So, instead of motorcycle riding we would go look for the Hurst Bridge again. I couldn't convince Oliver and Greta to go again so I loaded up Tyke (who had no objections) and mad my way to the Swell. We met up with my dad and Piper again and worked our way to the bridge. It took a little route finding but we found it. It was another beautiful fall day and we wore ourselves and Piper out but I think Tyke could have gone a few more miles.
